Adidas Opens First U.S. Soccer Flagship at American Dream Before World Cup

Adidas has launched its first U.S. soccer-only flagship at American Dream mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The 9,000-square-foot shop opened last week. It comes just months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to unfold at nearby MetLife Stadium this summer.

The shop had a soft opening. A grand opening celebration happens Feb. 25, with athlete appearances and activities planned. The first 200 visitors will snag a custom Zine packed with exclusive content, World Cup schedules, and other surprises.

Inside, shoppers discover premium athletic footwear and performance apparel. Exclusive collections line the walls. National team kits from every nation sponsored by the brand competing in the tournament are available, along with on-site customized gear.

“As excitement around the World Cup continues to grow, American Dream is proud to welcome Adidas and a store concept that celebrates the global passion for soccer,” said Adam Petrick, chief marketing officer at the mall, according to NJ Biz. “This opening reinforces our commitment to bringing iconic brands and culturally relevant experiences to our guests, especially as the world turns its attention to the global game.”

World Cup history saturates the space. A soccer ball wall displays balls from past tournaments dating back to 1970, according to News 12 New Jersey. Fitting rooms feature international team themes, including a large mural of Lionel Messi.

American Dream ranks as the second largest mall in the country. It sits next to the stadium. MetLife Stadium will host eight World Cup matches, including the final on July 19. Canadian developer Triple Five Group owns the mall.

“The World Cup is gonna be a whole other beast, 40 days of programming around it, eight games next door and everyone’s excited for what’s to come,” said Gregg Schwartz, a mall spokesperson who handles sports programming, according to News 12 New Jersey.

This opening is part of a larger slate of World Cup-related programming and activities planned at the complex this year. The mall hosted similar events for the FIFA Club World Cup and WWE SummerSlam at the stadium in summer 2025.

State officials approved nearly $800,000 in spending for work on and near the parking garage at the mall in October. The agency also approved a contract worth $33.5 million for a new pedestrian bridge near the stadium.

The shop is now open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
