DFA waives vehicle registration late fees, extends hours at Mountain Home Revenue Office

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration will waive late fees for vehicle registrations that expired this week after winter weather forced state office closures, including impacts affecting North Central Arkansas residents.

Officials said the waiver applies to any eligible vehicle registration renewed by next Friday. The department said the move ensures Arkansans will not face penalties tied to expiration dates that fell during the storm related shutdowns.

To handle increased demand, DFA is extending hours at several Revenue Offices, including the Mountain Home office, which will remain open until 6 on extended service days next week. Other offices with extended hours include Van Buren, Fayetteville, Bentonville, Springdale, Fort Smith East, Jonesboro, Paragould, Batesville, Cabot, White Hall, Pine Bluff, West Memphis, Monticello, Texarkana, Benton, Hot Springs Albert Pike, El Dorado, West Little Rock, Conway, Sherwood, Searcy and Russellville.

DFA Secretary Jim Hudson said employees will work through the weekend to clear a backlog of online transactions submitted during the closures. He said the effort is intended to free up staff to handle in person customer needs when offices reopen Monday.

Arkansans can schedule appointments for Revenue Office services, allowing staff to prepare in advance and reduce wait times. The department said tens of thousands of appointments have been completed since the program launched in 2025.

Many services are also available online at any time, including duplicate driver license orders, vehicle registration renewals, personalized license plate orders and title status checks. Appointments and online services are available through the state DMV website at mydmv.arkansas.gov.
