Zootopia 2 Is Now Available to Watch at Home After a Record-Breaking Box Office Run
Zootopia 2 was Disney’s biggest movie in 2025 thanks to a monstrous worldwide box office run. In fact, as of January 2026, the popular sequel has become the highest-grossing animated Hollywood film of all time and is even nominated for an Oscar. If you missed your chance to see it in theaters, the good news is that you now have the option to watch it at home. Zootopia 2 is now available to buy or rent digitally on all major VOD platforms.
IGN had the chance to review the film when it first came out and gave it a solid 8 out of 10, saying: “Zootopia 2 brings all the same animated whodunnit action and clever animal jokes as the 2016 version with a welcome new cast of allies.”
There are two options available for watching Zootopia 2 at home, you can choose to rent it for $24.99 or buy it for $29.99. If you choose to rent on Prime Video, you’ll have 30 days to start watching the film before your rental expires. However, once you start playing the movie you’ll only have access to it for 48 hours before it leaves your library. Purchasing the film for an extra $5 will mean you can watch it whenever you’d like (as long as Amazon retains the rights to it).
Similar rules apply to other VOD platforms like Apple TV, Fandango at Home, or Youtube. If you’d prefer to buy a physical copy of the film, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Disney recently announced that the physical release of Zootopia 2 will arrive on March 3, 2026. This will include 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD copies of the movie as well as limited edition steelbook. Like all of the 4K Disney releases, the physical edition will include a variety of bonus features and deleted scenes.
If you’re waiting for Zootopia 2 to come to Disney+, we unfortunately don’t yet have a streaming release date for the film. With the physical release date of March 3, it seems likely the film will come to streaming sometime shortly after that. Based on past Disney releases, I’d expect it to hit Disney+ sometime in late March or early April. However, due to its success in the box office, it’s possible that Disney will push the streaming release date back a bit further than usual.
In the meantime, you can check out all of the Disney+ deals currently available. There are a few different ways to save on a Disney+ subscription right now if you want to avoid paying full price.
