A winter storm watch is currently in effect for the area beginning Friday afternoon through Sunday morning.
As an arctic front drops into the area Friday wintry precipitation will begin in the evening with a slight chance of sleet and freezing rain before transitioning to all snow.
NWS meteorologist Eric Greene says snowfall could get heavy by Saturday.
