AR/VR elements will roll out beginning with the noon newscast on CBS Sacramento (KOVR) and extend to all news, weather and sports segments. Select elements will also appear during news and weather on Good Day on KMAX (Ind.), while the rest of the program will continue from a traditional studio.
“CBS Sacramento has long served our community through trusted journalism and compelling storytelling,” said Scott Warren, president and GM of CBS Sacramento and CBS Bay Area. “This new AR/VR studio gives viewers greater context and perspective, creating a more immersive way to experience the weather and local news stories that matter to them.”
Station leaders said the technology is designed to help journalists visually explain complex stories, breaking news and weather systems with greater clarity while maintaining editorial standards. The Sacramento launch continues the CBS Stations AR/VR newsroom initiative first introduced at CBS Bay Area under Warren’s leadership.
