Former employee indicted on murder charge in Nashua country club shooting

A 24-year-old man has been indicted on first-degree murder and multiple other charges after a deadly shooting at a Nashua country club in September.

Hunter Nadeau of Nashua, a former employee of Sky Meadow Country Club, is accused of entering the club on the evening of Sept. 20 and opening fire. 

Authorities said he fatally shot 59-year-old Robert Steven DeCesare, who was at the club with his wife and daughter.

Attorney General John Formella announced Thursday that a Hillsborough County grand jury returned multiple indictments against Nadeau. 

He faces alternative counts of purposeful first-degree murder and reckless second-degree murder for DeCesare’s death with a handgun.

Nadeau is also said to have shot Steve Burtman, who was working at the club, and fired at a group of people several feet away.

As a result, he has been charged with two counts of attempted murder — one for shooting Burtman and another for shooting at the group.

In addition, Nadeau is charged with two counts of first-degree assault for purposely causing bodily injury by shooting both Burtman and Brianna Surette, a patron at the club.

Four people also sustained non-gunshot injuries while either fleeing the area or intervening during the confrontation with the shooter, according to authorities.

Authorities said there is no known connection between DeCesare and Nadeau, and that Nadeau had not worked at the country club for about a year at the time of the incident.
