Baxter County Quorum Court increases per diem rate for JPs

The Baxter County Quorum Court met Tuesday evening in regular session at the courthouse.During the meeting, the court approved Ordinance 2026-01, which appropriates $6,098 in fees and reimbursements for the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.The court also considered Ordinance 2026-02, which increases the per diem rate for justices of the peace. That ordinance passed on a 6-5 vote, with Nault, Payne, Waldrop, Walker, and Davis voting against the measure.

In other business, the quorum court approved Ordinance 2026-03, which amends county policy to allow Baxter County to conduct business with White River Shipping alongside Benny Magness.
