Update: Two injured in head-on crash on Bloomington’s North Walnut Street Tuesday
Staff report
Bloomington, Ind. – December 17, 2025
Two people were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on Bloomington’s north side, after a southbound car crossed the center line, police said.
Bloomington police were called about 3:30 p.m. to the 2700 block of North Walnut Street for a collision involving a 2019 white Chevrolet Equinox and a 2001 blue Honda sedan, according to the Bloomington Police Department.
The driver of the Honda, a 23-year-old woman from Nashville, Indiana, was trapped in her vehicle and was extricated by the Bloomington Fire Department, police said. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 37-year-old man from Brooklyn, Indiana, reported a bloody nose and abrasions to his knees, chest and head, and told officers he believed he lost consciousness on impact. Police said the woman may have suffered broken bones. Both were taken to a local hospital.
Investigators said the Honda was traveling southbound when it crossed left of center into the path of the northbound Chevrolet. Police said the account was supported by a witness who was driving behind the Chevrolet, as well as video obtained from a nearby business. The Chevrolet driver told officers the Honda crossed the center line and that he did not have time to react before impact, police said.
Police said the Honda driver showed no signs of impairment. The crash remains under investigation as officers work to determine why the Honda veered left.
