KULPMONT – The second fire in a week wrecked a block in this Northumberland County community Saturday morning.

Fire crews were called to the 1300 block of Scott Street in Kulpmont around 9am for a reported structure fire.

Multiple homes were found aflame with thick, black smoke billowing into the skies.

Eventually, crews from all across Northumberland County and four neighboring counties — Schuylkill, Columbia, Montour, and Snyder — were called to assist, including firefighters from Girardville and Mahanoy City.

At least five homes were destroyed in the blaze, displacing at least ten people, according to the Shamokin News-Item.

All residents made it out safely.
