Isabella man arrested after high-speed pursuit ends at Bull Shoals Dam

An Isabella, Missouri man was arrested Wednesday morning after a high-speed vehicle pursuit that spanned multiple cities in Baxter and Marion counties, officials said.
The pursuit began around 6:45 when a Mountain Home sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a pickup truck on Main Street for a moving violation. The vehicle, which had no license plate visible, failed to stop and fled westbound on U.S. Highway 62 B, according to a news release from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.

Additional deputies joined the pursuit as the driver continued to evade law enforcement, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph. The chase moved through Gassville and Cotter before crossing the White River into Marion County. The vehicle then traveled through Flippin and north on State Highway 178 toward Bull Shoals, with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, and Bull Shoals Police Department assisting at various points.

The driver turned down several city streets in Bull Shoals before returning to State Highway 178 and heading toward the Bull Shoals Dam. The vehicle became disabled near the dam but crossed back into Baxter County before being stopped.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Thaddaeus Clay Ewry, was taken into custody after offering physical resistance, officials said. He was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $15,000 bond.

Ewry faces multiple charges, including fleeing by vehicle (felony), driving while intoxicated by drugs, reckless driving, driving left of center, no vehicle license, no liability insurance, and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. Authorities said additional charges could be filed in other jurisdictions.

The sheriff’s office praised the coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies in bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion.
