Google Announces 10 New AI Features for Google Chrome Powered by Gemini

Google has unveiled the most significant upgrade to Chrome in its history, integrating advanced AI capabilities powered by Gemini to transform how users browse the web.

These features are designed to enhance productivity, improve security, and deliver a more intuitive browsing experience.

The rollout begins with Gemini in Chrome, now available to Mac and Windows desktop users in the U.S. Users can ask Gemini to clarify complex information across any webpage or multiple websites simultaneously.

The assistant can consolidate flight, hotel, and activity details into a single itinerary. Google is adding agent-like features to Gemini so it can complete tasks such as booking appointments or ordering groceries on websites, while keeping users in control.

Chrome’s omnibox now offers direct access to Google Search’s AI Mode, letting users ask complex questions without leaving the address bar.

The browser can suggest contextual questions based on page content, delivering AI-powered overviews alongside results.

Google is strengthening Chrome’s security arsenal with Gemini Nano technology. Enhanced Protection mode now identifies tech support scams and will soon detect fake virus warnings and fraudulent giveaways.

Chrome’s notification system now intelligently filters spammy requests, reducing unwanted website notifications by approximately 3 billion daily on Android.

The browser also uses AI to learn user preferences for permission requests, presenting them less intrusively when unlikely to be granted.

Chrome’s password management receives an upgrade with AI-powered one-click password changes for compromised credentials on supported platforms, including Coursera, Spotify, Duolingo, and H&M.
