Marion County man, convicted of rape and carnal abuse, now facing charges for child porn

A Marion County man, previously convicted of raping multiple family members and of carnal abuse, is now facing charges for child pornography and failure to comply with sex offender reporting requirements. Fifty-six-year-old Robert Neil Larue of Yellville is being held in the Pope County Jail in Russellville.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Arkansas State Police, Larue was arrested in May by Russellville Police at Lake Dardenelle State Park. Larue is a level 4 registered sex offender and at the time of his arrest, he had two cell phones in his possession.

During questioning the following day, Larue admitted he had at least three social media and dating apps on his phone that were not registered and several more he had downloaded, used and deleted. He also admitted there were two or three images of nude underage girls.





The Pope County and Marion County prosecutors at that point asked for the Arkansas State Police to take over the investigation. A search warrant was obtained and the investigator found multiple chats along with more than 1,800 images of nude men, 41 images of nude females and 10 images of underage nude boys and girls.

Larue is facing six counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child and one count of failure to comply with sex offender reporting requirements, all felony charges. He also faces a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender. Larue is currently being held in the Pope County Jail awaiting extradition to Marion County. His bond is set at $50,000.

PREVIOUS ARRESTS

Larue has three previous felony arrests in Arkansas dating back to 1990.

In 1990, he was found guilty of theft by receiving in Sebastian County and given a 36-month suspended imposition sentence.

In 1993, Larue was found guilty of first degree carnal abuse in Sebastian County was given a three year imposed conversion sentence.

In 1999, he was given 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections through a plea deal after pleading guilty in Washington County to four counts of rape involving multiple family members.
