The city of Minneapolis honored 10-year-old Harper Moyski on Thursday by declaring November “Harper Moyski Month” and urging others to carry on her legacy.
Moyski and 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel were killed in the shooting at Annunciation Church and School earlier this year. Moyski would have turned 11 earlier this month.
In a resolution approved by the city council on Thursday, the city of Minneapolis said it wants everyone to carry on Moyski’s spirit, kindness, and joy.
“May Harper’s light continue to remind us that the measure of a society is found in how deeply it loves and protects its children,” the declaration reads in part.
In addition to the declaration, the city also honored the first responders who rushed to Annunciation, as well as dispatchers who answered 911 calls as they came in.
Another honor for Fletcher Merkel is also being planned for the city of Minneapolis. The city did not state when the honor would take place, but said it would come forward “soon.”
