SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport police are investigating a shooting where the victim was allegedly related to the assailant.
Officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 9200 block of Biddle Drive shortly after midnight on Nov. 4.
Upon arrival, they found a male victim lying on his right side, with a towel wrapped around his left thigh to stem the bleeding.
During their investigation, patrol officers encountered 21-year-old Jaylon Bell as he walked away from the scene.
Bell admitted to shooting his cousin, and authorities found him in possession of the firearm allegedly used in the incident.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, with no details available regarding any prior conflict between the two men.
Bell has been charged with aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, the victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
The firearm has been seized and the department says it will be destroyed after the legal proceedings end.
