Arkansas medical marijuana sales hit $240M so far, $43M from breaking record

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — From Jan. 1 through Oct. 31, 2025, Arkansans spent more than $240.9 million on medical marijuana, marking an increase of roughly $13 million compared to the same period last year, when sales totaled $227.8 million.

Patients purchased 6,350 pounds of medical marijuana in September, spending $22.6 million, followed by 6,883 pounds in October, totaling $25.1 million.

“In addition to the year-to-year increase in overall spending, total pounds purchased this year have reached 65,525, an increase of 3,400 pounds from 2024,” said Scott Hardin, spokesperson for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. “2025 sales should certainly surpass the previous annual record of $283 million.”

According to the Arkansas Department of Health, the state currently has 112,760 active medical marijuana patient cards, up 3,700 from two months ago.

State tax on medical marijuana sales in Arkansas is being allocated to provide free meals for students in the public school system. Hardin estimates that sales will raise about $30-33 million by the end of the year.
