UPDATE, 6:34 P.M.: Today at 12:50 pm., Franklin Fire Department and Centerville Fire Department were notified of a house on fire near La.182 and Alice C Road.

When fire officials arrived, at the scene at around 12:50 p.m. they were met by residents who advised no one was inside the house, just the family dog. Firefighters deployed a hose line and entered the house, locating the fire inside a bedroom. Officials said the fire was brought under control by 1:07 p.m.

No Injuries were reported to residents or first responders; however, officials said the family dog was found dead inside of the home.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation. Foul play is not suspected.

ORIGINAL STORY: FRANKLIN, La. (KLFY) — Fire officials are on the scene of a house fire in St. Mary Parish.

Franklin Fire Department along with Centerville Fire Department are on scene of a house fire, at the 10800 block of La.182, near its intersection with Alice C Road.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
