Driver killed in Santa Rosa fire hydrant crash
The crash happened around 5:33 a.m. near the intersection of 8th Street and Warren Lane, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. The truck also hit a parked car in the area.
Police and firefighters with the Santa Rosa Fire Department responded to the crash. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The initial investigation has shown that a Chevrolet pickup was driving SB on Warren Lane at a high rate of speed,” SRPD said. “The pickup truck struck a fire hydrant prior to colliding into a parked car.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. It’s unclear if the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. No one else was injured in the crash.
Authorities have not released the name of the driver at this time.
