Two Killed in Vermilion Parish Crash

KAPLAN, La. (KLFY) — Two people have died after a car crash in Vermilion Parish.

On Nov. 7, 2025, shortly after 2:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle fatality crash on Louisiana Highway 14 just east of Pirates Lane in Vermilion Parish. The crash claimed the lives of Julien Lawrence, Jr. 65, and Alexis Jackson, 41, both of Kaplan.

According to authorities, Lawrence was driving a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria east on LA Hwy 14 while a 2023 Cadillac Escalade was traveling west. For reasons still under investigation, as the vehicles approached on a small bridge, one crossed the centerline and struck the other head-on. Which vehicle crossed the centerline is still under investigation.

Officials said Lawrence died at the scene along with Jackson, who was seated in the rear of the Ford.

The driver and passenger of the Cadillac, as well as another passenger from the Ford, were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries.

Standard toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
