“It’s pretty nice, I worked pretty hard to get all of that. My teachers are great and are always helping me,” Parrino said. “My parents have presented me with a lot of opportunities to be able to achieve things like that.”
“A great kid in the classroom and on and off the field. There’s not enough good things you can say about him,” Newman head coach Aaron Vice said. “He’s very smart and wants to know why we’re doing what we’re doing and once he gets it, he understands and wants to take it to the next level.”
At this point, Corbett is unsure of where he will attend college. But a close influence helped him realize that he wants to major in biology.
“My dad is a doctor and I really liked watching him,” Parrino said. “Long hours and he works hard but it’s a job I’d find very interesting. I enjoyed doing work in biology over the summer and it’s something I just fell in love with.”
That’s why Corbett spent 240 hours of his summer working on a cardiovascular research project at Tulane.
While many activities occupy his schedule, Parrino’s work with the Travis Mannion Foundation, which supports families affected by the 09/11 attacks, is one of his favorites.
