According to Chicago police, the crash unfolded just before 9 p.m. in the 3600 block of North Lake Shore Drive, in Lakeview East.
Officers said the victim, a woman whose age is unknown, was crossing the street in the area when she was struck by a 26-year-old woman who allegedly ran a red light just before the crash.
The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, and the driver involved was later issued a citation.
An investigation into the crash is now underway by CPD’s Major Accident Investigation Unit.
