Lane, ramp reopen after I-65 crash involving semi

INDIANAPOLIS – A crash involving a semi slowed traffic on I-65 through Indianapolis on Friday morning, closing a ramp and a lane for several hours.

According to an alert from the Indiana Department of Transportation, the incident was initially reported around 5:40 a.m.

A semi crashed on I-65 southbound near Illinois Street/Meridian Street. The exit ramp was closed as a result.

INDOT indicated the semi overturned onto the barrier wall on the overpass. The right lane of I-65 southbound was closed.

INDOT didn’t have an estimate on when the interstate and exit ramp would reopen. Indiana State Police have responded to the scene.

A bridge inspector found no damage to the overpass, according to INDOT.

The right lane reopened around 9:15 a.m. The exit ramp reopened just after 10 a.m.
