Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland died of an apparent suicide on Thursday, according to Texas authorities.
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys Quarterback, spoke of the incident for the first time saying, “Started early this morning finding out the news, Tragic loss. I hurt. Heavy, heavy heart today. I hurt for Marshawn, I hurt for his family, I hurt for his girlfriend, I hurt for every single one of my teammates. This is a pain that you don’t wish upon anybody.
Prescott spoke about Kneeland’s death after celebrating a field dedication at his alma mater Haughton High School.
The Haughton native continued, “You wish none of us had to go through this. You wish Marshawn didn’t have to go through what he went through,” said Prescott. “Just thankful for each moment we have in this life and don’t take it for granted and hug and love on those that you do.”
The quarterback lost his older brother, Jace Prescott, in 2020 when he took his own life.
Dak Prescott founded the “Faith. Fight. Finish. Foundation” in 2023, the same year he was awarded the Walter Peyton Man of the Year honor from the NFL.
