LOGAN, Utah (ABC4) — A Cache County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested for alleged child abuse.
Drake Balls, 29, is charged with one count of intentional or knowing aggravated child abuse, a first-degree felony.
According to court documents, on Oct. 5, the Logan City Police Department responded to the Logan Regional Hospital on a report of a child with multiple injuries. The mother of the child told police that Balls, her ex-husband, hurt the child.
A patrol officer reported that the juvenile had stomach and neck pain as well as bite marks on his body.
Court documents share that a forensic interview with the child was conducted on Oct. 16. During the interview, the child disclosed that his father, Balls, “bent him in half while on the couch and sat on top of him,” and “kept biting him with his mouth and teeth.”
The court documents report that the child told Balls to stop, but he did not listen.
Balls is currently being held without bail at the Cache County Jail.
