At least 30 students taken to hospital after a crash involving school buses on South Side

CHICAGO — Emergency crews are on the scene on Friday morning after a crash involving at least two school buses that were carrying students.

According to officials from the Chicago Fire Department, the crash unfolded near the intersection of East 55th Street and South Woodlawn Avenue, in Hyde Park on the city’s South Side.

Officials said the crash unfolded as four buses made their way to the Museum of Science and Industry.

It is unclear if all four buses were involved in the crash, but at least two were damaged.

Following the crash, about 30 or 31 students who were on board the buses were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

It remains unclear what led up to the crash.
