NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — November has arrived, bringing with it the pleasant temperatures of autumn, which makes it a perfect time to head outdoors and enjoy Louisiana’s fall festivals! This weekend features something for everyone: from arts and crafts and medieval adventures to gumbo and tattoo artistry, here are Where Y’at’s
picks!

  • First, step back in time at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival, where medieval times come to life. The village of Albright in Hammond welcomes visitors with this weekend’s “pirate” theme, plus over 600 artisans, performers and interactive demonstrations celebrating the Renaissance era.
  • Celebrate the spirit of New Orleans at the Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival at Louis Armstrong Park. This free fest features some of the city’s best R&B and brass bands, plus plenty of delicious gumbo. Dance to the sounds of the Rebirth Brass Band, Trumpet Mafia and others.
  • Next, enjoy Destrehan Plantation’s Fall Festival Fundraiser, with over 150 arts and crafts booths, antiques and live music from Ryan Foret. For the kids, it’s a community celebration with pony rides, face painting and fall-themed activities.
  • Finally, the NOLA Black Tattoo Expo, the first-ever New Orleans tattoo convention dedicated to celebrating Black body artists, takes place at the Ashé Cultural Arts Center. The Expo will feature live tattooing from top Black artists, art vendors, body piercing and more.

Raise a glass, and toast the new Where Y’at Magazine Bar Guide, found at over 650 locations across greater New Orleans. The issue profiles some of the hottest bars and clubs in town, as well as exploring new cocktail trends and a look at the phenomenon of drive-thru daiquiris.
