“We never thought it would happen to us” Mother of 13-year-old who police say was shot speaks out

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Keonna Lauts, mother of the 13-year-old girl who was shot over the weekend by an 11-year-old boy, spoke with Eyewitness News reporter Ma’Rico Holland in an exclusive interview.

According to Rockford Police, officers were called to a home in the 1000 block of Harlem Boulevard at 7:55 p.m. on November 1st and located the shooting victim.

The 11-year-old has faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery of a firearm.

Lauts shared that her daughter Aislynn is recovering well and should be able to return to school in the near future.
