BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — St. Vincent de Paul launches local initiative to support families affected by SNAP uncertainty.

St. Vincent de Paul is asking the community to donate nonperishable food items during the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors Drive-Thru Donation Drive.”

“With so many families facing uncertainty around SNAP benefits and fewer resources available during the government shutdown, this drive comes at a crucial time. Together, we can make sure that no one in our community goes without food,” said Sunnie Johnson-Lain, President/CEO of St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge. “Every can, every donation, and every act of generosity truly makes a difference.

The drive-thru donation drive is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, at 1628 Florida Street in Baton Rouge.

Unable to donate a nonperishable item? St. Vincent de Paul is also accepting monetary contributions here or by mailing a check to St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge at P.O. Box 127, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70821.

All donations will support St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Service Program, which serves thousands of meals per month to those experiencing hunger in Baton Rouge.
