Police investigate shooting in Whitestown

WHITESTOWN, Ind. – Police are investigating a shooting in Whitestown.

Capt. John Jurkash, a public information officer with the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department, confirmed an adult was shot on Maize Lane around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Several people were being questioned, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Residents encountered a heavy law enforcement presence.

According to an alert from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, fire and police were dispatched to the area near Maize Lane and Red Barn Drive.

The alert indicated there was no active threat to the community.

“Please avoid the area due to police and fire activity,” the alert said.
