Election filing underway in Baxter County for 2026 cycle

Several candidates have filed for office in Baxter county as the 2026 election filing period continues.
In Baxter County, several candidates have filed for Justice of the Peace seats. Dennis M. Frank filed as a Republican for District 1, Mike McDonald for District 2, Rick Steiner for District 3, Maryanne Edge for District 5, and Tom Canta for District 11. District 7 is a contested race, with Brian Ades and Bob Nault both running as Republicans, while District 9 will see James Baker and Cameron Davis on the Republican ticket.

Countywide filings in Baxter County include Circuit Judge Ben Burnett, Prosecuting Attorney David L. Ethredge, County Judge Kevin Litty, and County Sheriff Brian Davis. Other candidates are Canda J. Reese for county and circuit clerk, Jenay Mize for treasurer, Teresa Smith for collector, and Jayme Nicholson Johnson for assessor. Local school board filings include Jimmy Morgan for the Cotter School Board and Tommy Knight and Barbara Horton for the Mountain Home School Board.

Candidate filings are being accepted through noon Wednesday, Nov. 12.
