15-year-old victim from Halloween shooting in West Valley has passed away

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A 15-year-old female who was struck by gunfire at a Halloween party in West Valley has passed away.

West Valley City Police confirmed the juvenile had passed away on a social media post Wednesday afternoon.

Just before midnight on Oct. 31, West Valley officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 2600 West 4000 South. According to police, a fight broke out at a Halloween party and spilled into the street.

During the incident, a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed. The 15-year-old female was injured and left in critical condition after the shooting. She has been in the hospital since.

Police say multiple individuals began shooting at each other before fleeing the scene. Several minutes later, Murray Police contacted West Valley Police with information that a vehicle had crashed near Intermountain Medical Center, and that a 17-year-old boy was found deceased inside the car.

“It was determined he had been struck by gunfire in the initial incident,” a press release from West Valley Police said. “The Homicide Unit responded to the scenes and conducted an investigation. The suspects of the shooting are still outstanding. The investigation is ongoing.”
