LSUA and Tunica-Biloxi Tribe partner for education and jobs growth

ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) — The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana and Louisiana State University of Alexandria will formalize a new five-year partnership aimed at strengthening economic development, education, and workforce growth across Central Louisiana.

An official signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the Black Box Theater inside Mulder Hall on LSUA’s campus, located at 8100 Highway 71 South in Alexandria.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the Tribe and LSUA to expand research initiatives, create job opportunities, and enhance academic access for Native American students through dedicated funding and educational support.

Tunica-Biloxi Chairman Marshall Pierite and LSUA Chancellor Dr. Paul Coreil will deliver remarks during the ceremony, joined by leaders from both institutions. The event will conclude with a reception and photo opportunities, and participants will be available for interviews.

“This partnership represents a shared commitment to regional progress,” Pierite said. “Together, we’re investing in education, economic opportunity, and the long-term success of Central Louisiana.”

The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe, which has approximately 1,700 members nationwide, has long maintained deep ties to the region. The partnership with LSUA reflects the Tribe’s ongoing efforts to expand educational and workforce development opportunities while contributing to community growth and sustainability.
