Dallas named one of America’s most eco-conscious cities

DALLAS (KDAF) — With COP30, the 30th UN Climate Change Conference, underway from November 10–21, 2025, in Belém, Brazil, global attention is on cities making strides toward sustainability. New data from Compare the Market highlights how U.S. cities like Dallas are starting to climb the ranks.

The Eco-Conscious Cities Index evaluated 60 major cities worldwide across factors including renewable energy usage, sustainable hotels, recycling rates, and vegan-friendly culture. While European capitals continue to lead, Dallas is emerging as a standout U.S. city making tangible progress:

Dallas ranks #7 with a total index score of 59.5

  • Sustainable Hotels: Dallas reports 37.02%, reflecting growing eco-conscious accommodations.
  • Vegan-Friendly Scene: With 3.60 vegan restaurants per 100,000, Dallas is expanding plant-based options.
  • Thrift Stores & Circular Economy: With 1.94 thrift stores per 100,000, the city encourages reuse and sustainable living.

Globally, 66% of people feel that their countries need to do more to combat climate change. However, though governments have a monumental impact on sustainability practices, many areas of the world take environmental issues into their own hands. So, which of the world’s cities are the most eco-conscious?

New research by Compare the Market AU analysed various environmental impact factors such as recycling scores, sustainable consumer habits, CO2 emissions and renewable energy usage to reveal America’s most eco-conscious cities.
