Train derailment blocks some Hutchinson railroad crossings

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A train derailment in Hutchinson on Monday blocked some railroad crossings.

The City of Hutchinson said the derailment occurred from 17th Avenue to 56th Avenue.

The City of Hutchinson said the crossing at 17th Avenue near Walmart reopened after being closed, and one lane of Kansas Highway 61 from 17th to 30th will also be closed to allow heavy equipment to be transported as crews clear and repair the tracks.

Hutchinson Mayor Stacy Goss said no injuries were reported and no hazardous materials were on the train. Goss said Union Pacific is working diligently and safely to clear the site.
