According to officers, around 3:29 a.m. they were alerted of an apparent suicide in the 7000 block of Lawrence Road.
Responding officers arrived to find a man inside of an apartment suffering from a gunshot wound. He was declared dead on the scene.
Through further investigation, the incident was reclassified as a homicide.
No further details are available at this time. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will released the man’s identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
