Juvenile injured after gun discharges during struggle, 2 charged, Winston-Salem police say
According to a press release, at 3:09 p.m., officers responded to a Winston-Salem hospital about a juvenile who had been shot and was dropped off at the emergency department.
Officers determined that Jemir Montray Price, 18, and Joshua Carson Westmoreland, 19, were in a vehicle with the juvenile in the 100 block of Churchland Road.
According to police, Price and Westmoreland were fighting over a firearm when it “negligently discharged,” striking the juvenile.
Following a search warrant at the house on Churchland Road, Price and Westmoreland were arrested and charged with felony discharging a firearm from within an enclosure and misdemeanor discharging a firearm in city limits.
The victim’s injuries are no longer considered life-threatening.
