Body found in NC lake; Winston-Salem police investigating

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating after a body was found floating in Salem Lake Thursday morning.

According to a press release, officers responded to the area around 8:30 a.m.

The body of Todd Gray Templeton, 40, of Winston-Salem, was recovered from the water, according to a WSPD news release.

The exact cause of death has not yet been determined, and an autopsy is pending.

Police say there are no signs of foul play and no danger to the general public.

FOX8 stopped by the lake on Thursday, and people said they were heartbroken.

“You don’t expect to hear about those things out here. People usually come here to fish, relax. I sometimes come here to meditate … To hear that someone lost their life out here, it’s tragic,” said Barrington Ross, a frequent visitor of Salem Lake.

The investigation is ongoing.
