ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), in partnership with the City of Alexandria, will host an open house public meeting on Thursday, Nov. 13, to discuss the proposed Sugar House Road Extension Project in Rapides Parish.

The meeting will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Frank O. Hunter Basketball Gym, located at 2399 Willow Glen River Road in Alexandria.

The proposed project aims to develop a connector route between LA 1, I-49, and U.S. Highways 167 and 71, improving access and traffic flow in the area.

DOTD officials said the open house format will allow residents and stakeholders to view exhibits detailing route alternatives and project information, as well as provide feedback and ask questions.

The public is encouraged to attend and share input on the project’s design and potential impacts.
