Aiken man accused of Kidnapping, Domestic Violence

On October 25th on Peacock Court in Aiken, the victim was was with her son and other children at the suspect’s mother’s home.

The suspect, Derrick Carter, allegedly came home drunk; that’s when the victim wanted to leave with her son.

Carter allegedly became upset and grabbed the woman by the neck and dragged her outside and then threw her down.

All the while, the child is reportedly hitting the suspect to release his mom. Carter allegedly punches his son in the face.

The victim tells the child to go get in the car….Carter begins toward the car and the mom jumps in.

Reports say Carter got into the vehicle and began to drive at a high rate of speed from his mother’s home.

He reported said, “I’m gonna kill us, I’m gonna kill us all.”

The suspect eventually crashed and rolled the vehicle.

Derrick Carter is charged with:

• Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child
• Kidnapping
• Use of Motor Vehicle Without Permission
• Domestic Violence 1st Degree

He remains in the Aiken County Jail.
