20-year-old gets 7.5 years for White Bear Lake stabbing that critically hurt victim

A 20-year-old man was sentenced to over seven years (90 months) in prison for a White Bear Lake stabbing that left the victim seriously hurt.

Jeffery Thomas Rice was given credit for 259 days already served.

Rice stabbed the victim, then 20, in July of 2024.

The victim had been on a walk with a woman before getting into an argument with Rice, court documents state. The woman said she saw Rice throw the first punch and then saw the victim bleeding from stab wounds.

According to court documents, the victim suffered multiple wounds to his small intestine, colon, left kidney, bladder and spleen. Emergency room doctors said he could have died without fast medical intervention.
