SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) The State Fair of Louisiana is back for its 119th year for a few weekends filled with rides, food, and fun times.

The fair’s marketing manager, Russell Adams, says this is the perfect event to build lifelong memories.

“You can build a lot of family memories out here. One personally is that this is where my mom and dad’s first date took place back in the 50’s. I just love to see the families come out here and to see the smiles on their faces,” says Adams.

This year, a brand-new ride has been added to the fair to make everyone’s experience that much more enjoyable.

“This is the very first fair that this Ferris wheel has ever been in. So, I’m excited to have a brand new Ferris wheel out here, and it is also one of the largest Ferris wheels in the country that can travel. They can break it down, take it to other cities, and set it back up,” says Adams.

Attendees aren’t the only ones there for the fair; many food vendors are ready to help those receive a great-tasting meal. Charles Wimbley of C & T Stuffed Shrimp says his love for creating food isn’t about the money.

“They have a lot of people here. We have a chance to just meet and greet a lot of people. It’s more about helping someone and less about making the money. I love to help people. I love to take care of people,” says Wimbley.

The fair will run from October 30 to November 16, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.
