Human remains found in rural West Virginia

CABIN CREEK, W.Va. (WOWK) — An investigation is underway after human remains were found late Thursday night in the Cabin Creek area.

According to a release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), two men flagged down passing Deputies to report that they discovered human remains on a dirt access road near Hill Street and Canady Lane around 10:45 p.m.

The release said the remains were confirmed to be in “an advanced state of decomposition.”

The remains have not yet been identified and were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination.

The investigation is ongoing.
