NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Happy Halloween! Friday night, there will be even more ghosts, goblins and vampires than you would find on a normal night in New Orleans! But this weekend also features electrifying indie rock, a costumed dance party and a country music festival that features some of today’s biggest stars. Here are Where Yat’s picks!

  • First, dress up in your best Halloween costume and dance the night away at The Metropolitan’s Fright Night.
The Halloween party will feature DJs SAMMY VIRJI and Westend, with three rooms of music over two floors. VIP tickets and bottle service are also available.
  • Next, Friday night, Oct. 31, catch indie folk-rock band Big Thief at its Somersault Slide 360 Tour at the Saenger Theatre. This NY-based band has released multiple critically acclaimed albums and received numerous GRAMMY nominations.
  • Country music lovers: head to Gonzales for the Boots on the Bayou festival. Featured performers will include Chris Stapleton, Parker McCollum, and others. The fest will hold its own tailgate party; general admission, a VIP platinum experience, and even camping packages are available.
  • Finally, Dillard University celebrates the investiture of its ninth president, Dr. Monique Guillory, at Friday night’s Twilight on the Oaks Gala, and on Saturday, Nov. 1, enjoy the Celebration of NOLA Music Festival, featuring Dr. Michael White, John Boutté and others. Visit Dillard’s website for more information.
