The crash happened around 1:46 p.m., when the driver of a Chevy pickup traveling north on Highway 17 failed to navigate a turn for the I-280 interchange. Video of the crash provided by @sanjoseactivities_ on Instagram shows the truck launch off a grass embankment and land in front of oncoming traffic on I-280 south.
A Honda occupied by a man, woman and child plowed into the truck as it slammed head-on into the freeway center divider. The crash scattered debris across both directions of traffic but no other vehicles were directly involved in the crash.
The driver of the pickup, a 40-year-old man from San Jose, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. The woman in the Honda suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
