RIVERTON, Utah (ABC4) — A Riverton man has been charged with over a dozen felonies and multiple misdemeanors after allegedly enticing a minor, who was really an undercover police officer.
Travis Kincaid Montgomery, 41, has been charged with eleven counts of distributing material harmful to a minor (third-degree felonies) and five counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor (second-degree felonies).
He has also been charged with four counts of enticing a minor (Class A Misdemeanors) and one count of obstruction of justice (a Class A Misdemeanor).
Reportedly, Montgomery exchanged several sexually explicit messages and photos online with who he believed to be a 16-year-old female. However, he was actually messaging an undercover police officer.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Utah County Jail on October 29, 2025, but has since been released on bail.
Case History
An officer with Utah County was posing undercover as a 16-year-old girl on the online messaging app Kik when they were reportedly contacted by the defendant on September 9, 2025.
Montgomery allegedly asked the undercover officer (UC) what ‘she’ was looking for and later asked if ‘she’ was there to “play game or looking for sex?” He also alluded to sex and asked if she wanted to have fun.
UC stated that she was probably too young for Montgomery, to which he said, “Age don’t bother me.” At this point, UC stated that she was 16 years old. Montgomery then asked if she was a virgin and said that it would “work for [him]” if UC wasn’t.
Reportedly, Montgomery asked several times if UC needed him to pick her up, discussed how they would have sexual relations, and what forms of protection they would use. He also asked UC to send photos of herself naked.
The defendant allegedly contacted UC on multiple occasions for several weeks and asked for sexually explicit photos. He also made several sexually explicit remarks and sent UC several videos and photos that depicted male and female sexual intercourse.
During the conversations, Montgomery reportedly accused UC of talking back to her and demanded she send him nude photos or else he would stop contacting her. She refused, but he continued to contact her and asked for photos.
At one point, Montgomery demanded that UC send a photo of herself with her face visible so “he would know she was real”, and the UC did send that photo. He then demanded more photos.
Montgomery also allegedly sent UC multiple photos of his own genitals and more explicit photos of sexual intercourse, while stating that he would masturbate.
Because Montgomery believed that the UC was a minor and continued to send and request sexually explicit content, he was taken into custody and charged.
