Is the weather delaying any highway projects in NE Kansas?

TOPEKA (KSNT) – With soggy and colder weather recently, we checked in with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to see if any projects will be delayed in the northeast part of the state.

According to KDOT spokeswoman Kate Craft, most projects are on schedule. She said there are no significant delays for projects in Osage or Shawnee Counties. Work on I-70 in Geary County is still scheduled to be finished by winter, with all lanes reopening.

Craft reports that I-70 in Topeka will stay reduced to one lane in both directions until it reopens next year as part of the Polk Quincy Viaduct (PQV) Project.

Craft said the overall PQV project is on schedule, but added that the eastbound I-70 off-ramp to Topeka Boulevard (formerly 1st Street) and reopening the Topeka Boulevard and 1st Street intersection bridge will likely be pushed back.

For more information on highway work in Kansas, you can visit KDOT’s website for a list of active projects.
