LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — As a precaution, SNAP recipients who remain at risk of losing benefits have already begun preparing to stretch what they have.

Laura’s II, in Lafayette, will serve free meals for children on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 9:30-11 a.m.

The owner of Laura’s II, Madonna Broussard says she is passionate about the community.

“The kids, parents and grandparents; this event is going to be really good for us,” Broussard said.

Laura’s II will serve free of charge fried chicken and french-fries for the kids. The amount will be limited, but they will give what is available.

“We’re asking people to just be mindful that there are two other businesses here,” said Broussard. “We definitely do not want to make a lot of traffic or blocking their spaces.”

Broussard foresees the free meal offering will take place outdoors, as the weather at the moment is agreeable.

“We’re going to have someone just serving it out. You probably won’t have to get out of your car,” she said. “So that’s what we’re gunning for — to have it really nice and sweet but definitely sharing our love. Like I said, sharing is caring.”
