Four Texas cities prove perfect for thrifty holiday shoppers

DALLAS (KDAF) — A new study by Priority Software has determined the best U.S. cities for bargain shopping. The number of vintage and thrift stores, discount stores, used car dealerships, pawn shops, flea markets, outlet stores, and wholesale stores in each city were analyzed to create an index, highlighting where shoppers can find the best deals.

Texans can save big this holiday season, with four cities named top spots for bargain hunters.

Grand Prairie, Texas, has 16.8 vintage and thrift stores and 26.2 discount stores per 100,000 residents. The city also offers 51.0 used car dealerships, 8.4 outlet stores, and a total index score of 56.4 out of 100, ranking 13th overall.

Garland features 27.1 vintage and thrift stores and 25.1 discount stores per 100,000 residents. With 56.3 used car dealerships and 6.2 wholesale stores, Garland earns an overall score of 51.47 out of 100, placing it 16th nationally.

Houston has 18.0 vintage and thrift stores and 18.3 discount stores per 100,000 residents. The city also provides 50.0 used car dealerships and 6.5 wholesale stores, giving it an overall index of 48.96 out of 100 and rank of 21st.

Arlington offers 16.1 vintage and thrift stores and 21.3 discount stores per 100,000 residents. With 33.6 used car dealerships and 6.0 outlet stores, Arlington scores 46.8 out of 100 overall, ranking 27th in the U.S.
