West Mahanoy, SV Art Club bring ‘Paint the Plow’ to local level
LOST CREEK – When the first snow falls this winter, folks in West Mahanoy Township will see a much more colorful plow clearing their street.
Shenandoah Valley Art Club students spent the past two days at the township garage in Lost Creek painting three of the township’s plow blades.
Tuesday afternoon, the plows were complete and township residents and officials judged the three plows and awarded a winner in a friendly competition amongst the club. The winner featured a frightened deer skiing with a message emphasizing safety: “Ice and snow, take it nice and slow.”
Sixteen students took part in the effort.
West Mahanoy Township also presented a check for $500 to the art club, contributing to a planned field trip to the Philadelphia Art Museum in Philadelphia County. The Pronio family added another $100.
