The facility, which was once used as a training center by the then-Oakland Raiders, is located at Harbor Bay Business Park.
The FIFA World Cup takes place June 11 to July 19 and highlights 48 teams and 104 matches in 16 host cities throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The San Francisco Bay Area is designated as one of the host cities.
TBCs are considered the “home away from home” for each of the competing teams and fans.
“This prestigious TBC designation positions Alameda to host one of the world’s national teams as they prepare for the tournament,” said The City of Alameda in a news release. “National teams will select their TBC after the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Draw on December 5.”
“Alameda is the perfect location for a national team to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup games,” said Alameda Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft in a news release. “We are excited to welcome talented players and passionate fans to the Bay Area, which is currently experiencing a renaissance of business growth and revitalized retail and entertainment offerings. This event will shine a global spotlight on our beautiful waterfront community and the entire region.”
Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara will host a total of six World Cup matches with five group stage matches set for June 13, June 16, June 19, June 22 and June 25, and one round of 32 match on July 1 during the global tournament.
