ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Arkansas’s oldest football rivalry may get some attention from ESPN’s College GameDay.
In an interview with Nexstar’s WKRN, College GameDay host Rece Davis said he is planning to pitch a visit to Henderson State University vs. Ouachita Baptist University for College GameDay.
“This is probably going to get me in trouble, but I’m pitching Battle of the Ravine in a few weeks, depending on what else happens,” Davis said.
According to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas, the Battle of the Ravine has been played since 1895, with the Tigers leading the Reddies 47-44-6 in the series.
The matchup is a notoriously short trip for the traveling team. Instead of a bus trip or flight, the visiting team takes a 5-minute walk across Highway 67 to the opposing stadium for that year. For the 98th year, OBU will be hosting.
In the past, GameDay has made trips to FCS schools and one DIII school, the 2007 matchup for Williams College and Amherst College, but has not yet made a trip to a DII matchup.
The next College GameDay show will be in Salt Lake City this weekend for Cincinnati at Utah.
